Our business was born from a deep friendship between two scientists working in tech/MAANG. In 2021, we decided to start our own rental businesses as side projects to diversify our investments and create additional income streams, all with the goal of achieving financial independence and retiring by age 45.

Then came 2023, and with it, the tech layoffs and stock market decline! While we were fortunate to keep our jobs, many of our colleagues weren’t so lucky. Some had to leave Washington to find work elsewhere, leaving their homes behind. They reached out to us for help in managing short-term rentals, hoping to cover their mortgage payments.

But we didn’t stop there. The trust and friendship we shared with our colleagues meant the world to us, so we went above and beyond to help them. Instead of just covering their mortgage, we gave them something even better—positive cash flow! What had been their biggest source of worry (the mortgage) turned into a source of income. We even exceeded expectations on cash flow, and that wasn’t by chance.
